Set the course for the future of AI with us
FCAI Research Programs and Highlights conduct fundamental research that is needed to produce the algorithms, inference methods, mathematics, and theorems that AI runs on. We work with top national and international researchers working with AI to set the course for the future of AI research.
FCAI identifies and creates potential applications for AI research together with the industry and the public sector. Besides fundamental AI researchers, we invite also researchers from other fields to collaborate with our prominent AI researchers and utilise the pivotal research data we produce.
Our main activities for researchers include:

We help you conquer current and future problems using AI
FCAI is built on the long tradition and track record of decades of pioneering machine learning research and we have unique AI expertise that cannot be accessed elsewhere. We work in collaboration with companies to conduct new AI research and to create solutions for their AI-related needs.
FCAI also conducts research that helps companies create ethically sustainable and trustworthy AI strategies and enables companies identify how AI might translate into growth in the long run. Additionally, we provide the employees of companies with training opportunities to improve their knowledge about AI.

FCAI works in collaboration with public organisations to create solutions for their AI-related needs. We help find and develop ethical and trustworthy AI that serves society and its citizens in the best possible way. Moreover, we offer research-based knowledge about how AI can be applied to strengthen and streamline public service processes and help public organisations prepare their operations for AI.

We help Finland to lead in understanding and applying AI across society
FCAI conducts fundamental research that enables application of AI in society. We help establish Finland as a leading country in AI by connecting top researchers with the public sector, industry and international academic institutions.
FCAI provides research-based knowledge and foresight on how AI affects society, and support decision makers by identifying the most effective, secure and ethical ways to implement AI across society.
Furthermore, we address one of the major bottlenecks for the adoption of AI in industry and society by enhancing the AI skills of citizens and making AI literacy possible for everyone.
FCAI activities to support policy making include:
Representation in committees and other groups working on AI policy recommendations
Access to research results and case studies that can guide decision-making
Collaboration to help with implementing AI in society and in the EU
Active participation in Europe-wide AI networks
