Andrew Cropper: The Automatic Computer Scientist

Abstract: Building machines that automatically build computer programs is a grand challenge in AI. I will describe progress towards this goal. I will focus on recent breakthroughs in inductive logic programming (ILP), a form of machine learning based on computational logic, with wider applications in game-playing, drug design, and visual reasoning.

Speaker:  Andrew Cropper lead the Logic and Learning (LOL) group at the University of Oxford. He works on symbolic AI, specifically combining computational logic and machine learning, i.e. inductive logic programming.
