We are pleased to invite you to an exciting seminar on the topic of “Transforming Data Centers into Artificial Trees: NSGA-III Optimization CO₂ Capture and Utilization.”
Data centers are becoming increasingly important to modern digital infrastructure, especially with the rapid development of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. However, their growing energy consumption and carbon emissions also create significant sustainability challenges. Conventional approaches mainly focus on improving energy efficiency, while this study explores a further possibility: enabling data centers to actively contribute to atmospheric CO₂ removal.
On September 21, 2026, Tongxin Li will present research on how AI-powered direct air capture (DAC) and advanced multi-objective optimization can transform data centers into carbon-negative computational hubs. The talk will highlight the coordinated optimization of computing workloads, CO₂ capture processes, energy consumption, renewable energy, storage systems, and carbon-credit benefits using NSGA-III.
This presentation is mainly based on the following publication:

The study integrates AI-powered direct air capture into data-center operation and develops an NSGA-III-based multi-objective optimization framework to maximize CO₂ capture efficiency, minimize energy consumption, and optimize carbon-credit monetization while coordinating dynamic workloads, renewable energy, and storage systems.
The seminar will be highly relevant for professionals and researchers in data centers, carbon capture and utilization, artificial intelligence, multi-objective optimization, sustainable computing, and energy systems.
