Scientific Advisory Board 2020: FCAI has an excellent track record of outstanding research

FCAI's activities have been evaluated by the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) that consisted of eight internationally prominent professors. The board concluded that the overall output during FCAI’s first two operating years has been impressive and provided valuable guidance for the future.

The chair of the SAB, Professor Nicolò Cesa-Bianchi presented the findings of the SAB.

“AI-assisted decision making is a great choice to deploy FCAI´s agenda, great impact on applications, but also strong potential towards basic research”, says Professor Nicolò Cesa-Bianchi, the chair of the SAB.

Cesa-Bianchi presented the findings of the SAB on December 2, 2020. The objective of the SAB is to provide critical guidance and to advise FCAI on strategic planning for future directions of FCAI activities.

According to the SAB, FCAI’s user-centered viewpoint resonates well with the current EU research directions. “FCAI’s research programs provide an exciting mix of methodologies and sub-areas, including Bayesian deep learning, privacy-preserving AI and interactive and autonomous AI”, says Cesa-Bianchi.

SAB summarizes that FCAI is a carefully designed and flawlessly implemented research center, with a double mission of achieving results in fundamental research and having an impact on applications.
