The new season of Machine Learning Coffee Seminar has started
FCAI’s highly popular seminar series Machine Learning Coffee Seminar (MLCS) is back in 2022 with a new lineup of speakers for the spring semester. The MLCS talks take place weekly on Monday mornings and are hosted by FCAI researchers at the University of Helsinki and Aalto University.
This year, Luigi Acerbi, Assistant Professor of Artificial and Human Intelligence, joins the organization team. Academy Research Fellow Markus Heinonen continues as the other host of the seminar series.
“We have a fantastic season ahead, with outstanding talks from renowned FCAI professors such as Associate Professor Laura Ruotsalainen talking about how computer vision is guiding cranes, and Professor Kai Nordlund, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Helsinki, discussing how AI methods can speed up the creation of fusion energy”, says Heinonen.
“We also look forward to the talks by international guests whose work is very close to the FCAI research programs, such as Laurence Aitchison, Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, on representation learning with deep kernel machines, and Professor Jakob Macke from Tübingen University on simulation-based inference”, Acerbi adds.
“The MLCS is targeted at the Finnish AI research community, including academics, students and industry people alike”, comment the organizers. “Our goal is to bring researchers together with high-quality and open scientific presentations that strongly connect to the FCAI agenda of tackling real-world problems with existing and novel AI methods”.
