AI doctoral program launches

The Finnish Doctoral Program Network in Artificial Intelligence, otherwise known as AI-DOC, held a launch event in February 2025 at Aalto University. AI-DOC is one of 15 doctoral pilot programs in Finland, with the aim of educating 1000 new PhDs. Students from the 10 participating universities, their supervisors and AI-DOC management group members joined a half-day of lunch, poster sessions and networking. There was a panel discussion on how to manage the PhD journey, and keynotes from program director professor Arno Solin and professor Teemu Roos outlined the purpose and structure of the program as well as the broader significance of AI in society, respectively.

Following two highly popular application rounds in 2024, all 100 AI-DOC students started their studies by January 2025. More information on the students, their work and future activities is on the AI-DOC website.
