The aim of The Artificially Correct Hackathon 2021 is to develop innovative, forwardlooking ideas and projects with regards to tackling bias in language and machine translation. The participants will work on one of the proposed challenges or their own project, with the aim of coming up with innovative solutions, e.g. concepts, games, apps etc. The best projects developed during the event will be awarded by the Goethe-Institut.
The hackathon is primarily aimed at students, young professionals, professionals, activists and freelancers with a high level of interest in the topic of tackling bias in language and machine translation. You don't need any experiences with Hackathons or special skills, the participants will be combined in teams according their interest and knowledge background. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event.
FCAI takes part in the hackathon by organizing Database and detection of gender bias in A.I. translations challenge together with Institut für Medien- und Kommunikationspolitik. The goal of the challenge is to define and analyse gender bias from machine translation systems and create a database in which all users can gather, describe and discuss cases of bias.
